There is so much that goes into the restaurant experience. From the Buzz factor that produces great word of mouth, through the process of setting a reservation, location, parking, greeting by the hostess, ambiance, seating, noise level, lighting, menu variety and design, pricing - all before you have sampled your first bit of food.
Social media provides a series of opportunities for potential consumers to interact with the brand and be persuaded on why the restaurant might be a good choice. With the control of the consumer, social media is also a place for restaurants to focus on reputation management. A few bad reviews online and it is the equivalent of millions of people being told to not go there.
