REMEMBER TACANDSIB

I learned all of the great lessons of my life at the knee of my grandmother, Bernardine. She was, for all intents and purposes, a mashup of Lucille Ball and Katherine Hepburn with full dose of Scarlett O’Hara southern charm thrown in for good measure.

One of her biggest passions was her love for movies and tv…all things Hollywood. Bernie had one of the very first VCRs and would rip apart the tv guide every week deciding which shows deserved to be recorded and saved for posterity in her sewing room. She created a library of tapes and used photo albums with images and a write up from the movie – sort of her own poster and review. Long before Blockbuster came to town and Netflix wasn’t even a distant idea, we were allowed to check the tapes out of her library for a 3 day pass.

Beyond the value of a good gin and tonic, she taught me about character, class and work ethic. My grandmother served the community and worked to help others, no matter what their station in life.

From a very early age, she used to tell me to always remember Tacandsib – “They’re All Crazy and Slower Is Better”.

So, what does this have to do with Branding and advertisng? Well, believe it or not, everything.

At Russo, we believe in connecting with the consumer on an emotional level. My grandmother was all about connection - whether it be in her storytelling or in her relationships. She knew that everyone had something unique about them, and to connect with them, you had to first understand them.
Tacandsib was her way of saying everyone has their own path and their own story. To understand their story, we have to slow down and listen. When we listen, it all begins to make sense. (Click here to read Jaci's Professional Bio)
